Google has just released a new version of Chrome which includes the new “Instant Pages” service. Instant Pages renders page data before you actually click on the page which significantly reduces wait time on loading web pages. The video below demonstrates how a page which would take 7 seconds to load would load “Instantly” with Google Instant Pages.
Rumour has it that the iPhone5 is due to release soon, but in October, not September like a lot of fanboys would have hoped.
There are also a lot of rumours regarding the hardware and appearance of the new iPhone, will it have a curved screen?, will it have an NFC chip? to be honest, I have no idea.
Police have arrested 18-year old Jake Davis, who they suspect is one of the lead members of ‘hacktivist’ groups LulzSec and Anonymous. You can read a statement from the met police here.
Jake allegedly had been acting as a spokesman of both LulzSec and Anonymous, using the online handle Topiary. He was arrested at a residential address in the Shetland Islands last Wednesday and was freed on bail yesterday.
Topiary’s twitter account can be seen here, and while you’re there why not follow me @dsniff
Sony Ericsson are currently developing a new tablet/handset. There is also rumours that the 4.7″ hybrid will be sporting a glasses-free 3D display. The release has come just in line with talk of HTC and LG’s 3D handsets being released soon.
For those of you who can’t picture it, the screen will be an inch bigger than the iPhone 4′s 3.5″ screen and 0.2″ bigger than the 4.3″ screen on the new HTC sensation, but Sony’s will be a 4.5″ 3D display with a resolution of 1280×720p.
If you are like me (which a lot of people aren’t) you have been pretty sad at the demise of Adobe Flash. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still a good tool but as the web moves on and HTML5 becomes the browser standard, flash just won’t cut it.
Adobe have released a new product labelled ”Adobe Edge” which follows nicely from their Flash to HTML5 converter.
At the moment you can download a preview of Adobe Edge, it allows you to animate HTML5 and CSS3 elements while still giving you full control of the code.
People keep asking me what Google+ actually has to offer so here is just a couple of things you can do with it, it’s still in development so I’m sure there is more to come. And if you are angry because you don’t have an invite, you can request one at invites@snaith.co.
- Circles
The idea of Google+ is that you organise your friends/family/whoever into a number of “circles”. When posting an update you specify which circles you like to display it to, its a good idea but people don’t like organising all of their friends manually by hand (as myspace demonstrated many moons ago)
- Hangouts
The hangout feature is sort of in line with Facebook now teaming up with Skype. A hangout is a chat room with video that the friends of your choice can join and it is native to the Google+ site. I like this touch.
- Sparks
You can add a number of ‘sparks’ or interests to your account and keep up to date with all recent news on anything you like, the best way to describe this one is to use it for yourself but it’s nothing fancy.
